2024 Nissan LEAF charging up in a home garage

Level 1 Charging

Charge your EV at home, just like any other device.

Simply plug your EV's charging cable into a standard 120-volt outlet. Level 1 charging is the slowest type of charging, but it's convenient and requires no special equipment. See your owner's manual for charging instructions and safety precautions.

Level 2 charging

The fastest way to charge your EV at home.

The Pulsar Plus™ charger (sold separately) allows you to charge your EV much faster than with Level 1 charging. It plugs into a 240-volt outlet, so you'll need to have a qualified electrician install one for you.

Charging your EV without a garage is easy.

All you need is a power source and a place to park. If you don't have a garage, you can install an outdoor-rated, weather-sealed charging station on the exterior of your home.

If you live in an apartment, many residential complexes are starting to offer charging units in parking garages. Contact your property manager to learn more.

Nissan and Wallbox™ make home charging your EV easier than ever.

With Nissan and Wallbox™, you can choose from a variety of home charging solutions, including Level 2 chargers and bundled charger and home installation packages. We'll make sure you have everything you need to charge your EV quickly and conveniently at home.

Tips for installing your home charger

Before you install your home charger, here are a few tips to help ensure a smooth and successful installation:

  • Use a professional installer. Professional installers are licensed, bonded, and insured, and they have the experience and expertise to install your charger safely and correctly.
  • Choose the right location. Consider where you normally park your car and how long the charging cable is. You'll want to install your charger in a location where the cable can easily reach the charging port without any obstruction.
  • Make sure there is enough slack in the cable. To prevent the cable from being under tension, which can damage it over time, make sure there is always a bit of slack in the cable once it is installed.
  • Mount the charger securely. The charger should be mounted to a vertical wall stud or securely to a wall with appropriate mounting anchors.
  • Use a 240-volt outlet. EV home chargers require a 240-volt outlet, like the one used for your electric dryer. If you don't have an existing 240-volt outlet, a professional electrician can install one for you.

Additional safety tips:

  • Your EV home charger should only be installed by qualified, professional technicians.
  • Your EV home charger installation must comply with all local regulations.
  • Your EV home charger must be grounded.
  • Your EV home charger must be protected from impacts, moisture, and misuse.
  • EV home chargers typically have no user-serviceable parts. Never attempt to repair your home charger yourself. Always call a qualified professional technician for any repairs.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your home charger is installed safely and correctly, providing you with many years of reliable service.
